HC Deb 04 December 1888 vol 331 c1024
MR. W. BECKETT (Notts,) Bassetlaw

asked the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether, as Christmas day falls on a Tuesday this year, he will see fit to procure an alteration of the Bank Holiday from Wednesday, the 26th, to Monday, the 24th instant, by an Order in Council, as provided by the 5th section of the Bank Holidays Act?

THE FIRST LORD (Mr. W. H. SMITH) (Strand, Westminster)

My hon. Friend only called the attention of the Government to this Question within the past 24 hours. The Government will endeavour to put itself into communication with those who are most interested in the matter, and will see if it is the general desire that the change suggested should be made.
