HC Deb 17 May 1887 vol 315 c254
COLONEL HUGHES-HALLETT (Rochester)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, Whether it is in contemplation, as reported, to do away with the Royal Marine Artillery, and convert that highly-trained force into Marine Infantry?

THE FIRST LORD (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON) (Middlesex, Ealing)

There is no truth in the rumour to which my hon. Friend refers, that the present Board of Admiralty propose either to abolish the Royal Marine Artillery or to amalgamate it with the Marine Infantry.
