HC Deb 27 February 1885 vol 294 cc1620-1
MR. ONSLOW

asked the Prime Minister, Whether there was any truth in the report that the Ameer of Afghanistan was to meet the Viceroy of India; and, if so, whether the right hon. Gentleman would not, under present circumstances, impress on the Viceroy the necessity of holding the meeting as soon as possible?

MR. GLADSTONE

, in reply, said, he was not at present in full possession of particulars; but there was no doubt that an interview had been arranged between the Viceroy of India and the Ameer of Afghanistan, and that the interview would take place at an early date. If the hon. Gentleman would give Notice of another Question upon the subject, he would be able to give further particulars.
