HC Deb 28 April 1884 vol 287 c746
MR. GORST

asked the President of the Board of Trade, Whether he can now announce a date for the Second Reading of the Merchant Shipping Bill; and, if not, whether he will indicate a day upon which he will be prepared to make such announcement?

MR. CHAMBERLAIN

I propose to ask the House to proceed with the second reading on the first Government night which the exigencies of Supply may leave free after Mr. Speaker has been got out of the Chair on the Representation of the People Bill.
