HC Deb 25 May 1882 vol 269 cc1611-2
MR. BUXTON

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether, considering the increasing population and prosperity of Mexico, the Government have under consideration the advisability of resuming those diplomatic relations with that country which have been dropped since 1867?

SIR CHARLES W. DILKE

Her Majesty's Government have had this matter under their consideration; but the confidential unofficial conversations which, as I have informed the House, have taken place between Her Majesty's Ambassador and the Mexican Minister at Paris have not hitherto had any result.
