HC Deb 28 April 1873 vol 215 cc1027-8
MR. BOURKE

asked the Vice President of the Council, Whether he has any objection to give a Return of the number and names of the provincial newspapers in which advertisements, signed F. R. Sandford, secretary, have been issued from the Education Department within the last twelve months, and also a Return of the expenses incurred during the last twelve months for advertisements in provincial newspapers in respect of Notices A. and B. under section nine of "The Elementary Education Act, 1870;" and, whether the newspapers in which the above advertisements are inserted are selected by the Local School Boards or by the Education Department?

MR. W. E. FORSTER

Sir, the advertisements referred to are those which, under the provisions of the Education Act, had to be inserted in provincial newspapers by the Education Department, and not by the Local School Boards. There will be no objection to produce the Returns if the hon. Gentleman will move for them.
