HC Deb 28 April 1873 vol 215 c1027
MR. CHICHESTER FORTESCUE

said, he would take that opportunity of stating to the House the names of the Gentlemen who had expressed their willingness to accept the appointments of Railway and Canal Commissioners in the event of the Bill which was now passing through Parliament becoming Law. Their names were as follows:—The right Hon. Sir Frederick Peel; Mr. William Price, now M.P. for Gloucester; and Mr. Mac-Namara, Q.C., now a County Court Judge. There was no foundation for any of the reports which had appeared in the public journals as to these appointments having been offered to other gentlemen than those he had just named.
