said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If he can state definitely whether any measure is likely to be introduced for the purpose of compensating those persons who incurred losses from the Rinderpest before the Compensation Act was passed?

MR. WALPOLE

replied that the Returns on the subject were not yet completed. He had, however, been in communication with his noble Friend the President of the Council, and they concurred in the opinion that the Returns were so far completed that they might, before the close of the Session, be in a position to state their views generally with respect to it.
