UK Parliament session citations
Regnal years were used to cite parliamentary sessions - and Acts gaining Royal Assent in those sessions - until the latter half of the 20th century.
The citation of Acts switched from the regnal year of the session to calendar years in 1963, following the passage of the Acts of Parliament Numbering and Citation Act 1962. Use of regnal years continued intermittently beyond 1963; for example, the House of Commons Journal for 1970-71 is described as "1970-71: 19 & 20 Eliz. II".
