What representations they have made, directly and through the United Nations, to the Indonesian Government following recent reports that Indonesian army officers found guilty of crimes after the vote for independence in East Timor have had their sentences quashed by the High Court in Jakarta. On 24 August the presidency issued a statement on behalf of the European Union expressing concern at the overturning of convictions by the Ad Hoc Human Rights Court in Jakarta.
