To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Application Registration Cards have been issued since January 2002. [170333]

Up to the end of March 2004, approximately 200,000 Application Registration Cards (ARCs) had been issued. This figure includes cards issued to new asylum seekers and their dependants as well as replacements where, for instance, the original has been lost or damaged.
