§ Hilary BennDFID provided £1 million to the National Area-Based Development Programme in 2002. The programme has implemented a number of recovery projects, through NGOs, in 17 provinces in the education, infrastructure, health, irrigation, shelter and water supply sectors. Capacity building activities have also been undertaken in the lead Government Ministry, and the Ministry of Rural Reconstruction and Development (MRRD) to ensure they are able to successfully implement the programme.
