§ Ms Blears[holding answer 7 June 2004]: There are no statistics published centrally on the number of police staff at borough level. The total number of police staff (includes community support officers and traffic wardens) in the Metropolitan police on 31 March 2003 was 12,558. This represented 31 per cent. of the total of those employed by the Metropolitan police.
