To ask the Secretary of State for Health what authority Hillingdon Primary Care Trust has to use NHS resources for the medical inspection of immigrants. [156848]

The authority for national health service bodies to incur expenditure on medical inspection of immigrants is in sections 1–3 of the National Health Service Act 1977.

The Secretary of State's duties under the Act are delegated to primary care trusts.
