To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many UK immigration officials were in post at(a) Heathrow, (b) Gatwick, (c) Stansted, (d) Luton and (e) City airport on 1 January in each of the last six years. [148436]

[holding answer 19 January 2004]: The table sets out the number of full-time equivalent immigration officials employed at the airports listed, as at 1 January for the last six years.

As at 2 January 2004, the UK Immigration Service had a further 103 Immigration Officers who had confirmed places on training courses taking place in January, February and March who were to be posted to either Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted airports.
