HC Deb 04 February 2004 vol 417 c994W
Mrs. Curtis-Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the requirements for police registration have been lifted in respect of Taiwanese nationals. [150635]

Beverley Hughes

[holding answer 26 January 2004]: The Government do not recognise Taiwanese nationality, although passports issued by the Taiwanese authorities are accepted for the purposes of travel to and from the United Kingdom. The holders of such documents continue to be required to register with the police in accordance with the requirements of Part 10 of the Immigration Rules. These requirements are a matter which is kept under review.
