HC Deb 08 September 2003 vol 410 cc49-50W
Mr. Tyrie

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether an RAF Policeman has the same level of training at the completion of Phase 2 as an Army Military Policeman to deal with(a) theft, (b) assault, (c) criminal damage and (d) other investigation work. [127245]

Mr. Ingram

Phase 2 training for the RAF Police and the Army's Royal Military Police (RMP) covers criminal damage, assault and theft. As the RMP course places greater emphasis on practical training and includes Investigative Interview Techniques, it lasts approximately 13 weeks longer than the RAF Police course. From 11 September 2003, Phase 2 training for the RAF Police will be extended to cover all aspects of practical training and the course period will then exceed that of the existing RMP course.
