To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what the aims are of the Den Khodaida Water Project in Afghanistan and the structure of the UK's involvement in it; if he will list the other countries involved in(a) projecting, (b) setting up and (c) running the project; and if he will make a statement. [133646]

Hilary Benn

Den Khodaida is a village in the hinterland of Kabul but lying outside the city boundary. The aim of the Den Khodaida Water Project is to repair the water supply system to the village. These repairs are on-going. The project is being implemented by one of the Civil-Military Co-operation teams of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The team is under Finnish command. There has been no direct British involvement in funding, designing or running the project. The EC has also not had any involvement.
