To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the cost of advertising by(a) HM Treasury, (b) the Inland Revenue, (c) Customs and Excise, (d) the Office of National Statistics, (e) National Savings and (f) the Royal Mint in each year since 1997; and if he will make a statement. [138802]

For the years 1997 to 2002 in respect of HM Treasury, Inland Revenue, HM Customs and Excise and the Royal Mint, I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer given to the hon. Member for Buckingham (Mr. Bercow) on 7 May 2002,Official Report, column 36W.

The information relating to subsequent years is as follows:

Inland Revenue

  • 2002–04: £19.9 million
  • 2003–04: £7.4 million

HM Customs and Excise

  • 2002–03: £1,539,000
  • 2003–04: £1,557,000
