§ Miss Melanie Johnson[holding answer 19 June 2003]: The Department has not estimated the number of deaths brought forward as a direct result of nitrogen dioxide emissions from aircraft. The Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants concluded in 1998' that the evidence did not support quantification of deaths brought forward by nitrogen dioxide.
