As National Statistician I have been asked to reply to your recent question concerning the percentage of the working age population who are over 50. (110182)>For the United Kingdom in mid-2001, 24.4 per cent of the working age population (16–64/59 for males and females respectively) are aged 50 and over (50–64/59 for males and females respectively).
