HL Deb 29 October 2002 vol 640 cc23-4WA
Lord Laird

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are their future plans for the railway line between Lisburn and Antrim. [HL6004]

Lord Williams of Mostyn:

The draft budget presented to the Northern Ireland Assembly on 24 September does not include any resources to maintain services on the Lisburn to Antrim railway line beyond 31 March 2003. Consequently the Government are having to consider the future of this line in the context of the contribution which it makes to public transport and the importance of other competing priorities for the resources that would be necessary to keep the line in operation.
