Information is not available about how many people in the United Kingdom own pedal cycles. However, from the National Travel Survey, the percentage of households in Great Britain owning bicycles in 1999–2001 was as follows:

The National Travel Survey for Great Britain has asked about the frequency of bicycle use since 1998. The percentage of people who have said that they cycle at least once a week is as follows:

  • 1998: 14
  • 1999: 14
  • 2000: 15
  • 2001: 14
