§ Jacqui SmithThrough the National Service Framework for Older People (published in 2001), "Quality Protects" (launched in 1998), and the National Service Framework for Mental Health (published in 1999), and related initiatives, the Government is ensuring that services for older people, children and adults with mental health problems respectively are developed so that all people who need support, no matter their background and personal characteristics, can be provided with appropriate and effective help. In addition, the Government has announced that a National Service Framework for Children is being developed.
