HC Deb 11 May 2001 vol 368 c383W
Mr. Livsey

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans there are to improve the A44 road between Worcester and Kington in Herefordshire. [161066]

Mr. Hill

The A44 between Worcester and Kington is the responsibility of Worcestershire county council and Herefordshire council as local highway authorities.

Herefordshire council's Local Transport Plan includes some safety improvements in Bromyard. The council is also in the early stages of considering the need for a bypass for Pembridge. If they conclude there is a need they will be able to bid for funds in their next Local Transport Plan submission.

Worcestershire county council has no plans for improvements on their section of the route.
