The term "disorder" is understood as referring to incidents of concerted indiscipline. An incident is classified as concerted indiscipline when prisoners collectively: refuse to comply with a lawful order; or involve themselves collectively in disruption of an establishment's normal regime and the incident is not otherwise reportable in its own right, unless that reportable incident presents a wider threat to the good order or discipline of the establishment.
During the last 12 months, 103 incidents of concerted indiscipline have taken place in prisons in England and Wales. The prisons at which the disorders took place are listed in the tables:
