To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, pursuant to his statement of 28 November, what estimate he has made of the cost of (1) administering his proposals for the long-term unemployed; [20274]

(2) the implementation of his proposals for the long-term unemployed. [20276]

We estimate that our proposals for the long-term unemployed will cost £40 million to implement and administer in 2002–03 and 2003–04.
