HC Deb 27 January 2000 vol 343 c306W
Mr. Gerrard

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what data he collates regarding the monitoring of training services provided under the New Deal in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. [104102]

Ms Jowell

Responsibility for the monitoring of training services provided under the New Deal for Young People in the London Borough of Waltham Forest rests with the local partnership in the Ilford unit of delivery. The Employment Service has worked with the Training Standards Council—the independent body set up by the Secretary of State to evaluate and report on Government funded work based training—to produce a framework to assess training provision. Part of this process is an annual self assessment that in Ilford' s case will take place in February 2000. To inform the inspection process the New Deal Partnership collates details of New Deal participants and information on the achievement of those who have left New Deal options. This information is broken down by gender, ethnicity and disability status. Separate statistics are compiled for each contractor involved in the local delivery of New Deal options.
