To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what was the percentage of A-level students who received A grades taking(a) modular examinations and (b) taking non-modular examinations in (i) 1997, (ii) 1998 and (iii) 1999. [106131]

Of the modular GCE A-level entries in England in each of the last three years, the following percentages resulted in A grades:
