§ Mr. Alan HowarthThe Funding Agreement with the Arts Council of England enables the Department to ensure that grant in aid is spent in accordance with the Government's goals for the arts. Under the arms length principle, the Department do not interfere in funding decisions for individual art forms and organisations.
