HL Deb 20 December 2000 vol 620 cc59-60WA
Earl Attlee

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Further to the Written Answer by Lord Bassam of Brighton on 22 November (WA 74), whether the authorisation of Special Types (General Order) 1979 either:

  1. (a) requires mobile phones to be available to the crew of a vehicle carrying an abnormal load; or
  2. (b) enables the police to require one to be available. [HL126]

Lord Bassam of Brighton:

The Motor Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) General Order 1979 makes no provision for either (a) or (b).
