HC Deb 21 October 1999 vol 336 cc637-8W
Mr. Boswell

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on integration of key skills into the level 3 curriculum. [94737]

Mr. Wicks

[holding answer 19 October 1999]: The Government want to encourage more young people to develop their key skills as a natural part of their post-16 education and training. We are therefore introducing from September 2000 a new qualification covering communication, application of number and information technology. The intention is that individuals should study at the level appropriate to their own needs and to their main course of study. This will include level 3.
