To ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to his answer on 17 May 1999,Official Report, column 267, on meetings with President Clinton, how many meetings he held with members and officials of the United States Government during his visit of 21 September 1998, indicating the location of each meeting and the names of the members and officials of the United States Government at each meeting. I travelled to New York in September 1998 to attend the United Nations General Assembly, where I heard a speech by President Clinton. I had also been invited to make a speech and focused on the development of the United Nations and the challenges we face in a global economy.

My visit to the United States in February 1998 was my first official visit to the United States as Prime Minister. I had talks with the President at the White House in Washington to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
