To ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to his answer 25 June 1999,Official Report, column 480, on Policy Unit (US visits), what were the names of the members of his Policy Unit who accompanied (a) him and (b) other Ministers on visits to the United States of America on four occasions since 1 January 1998; and how many meetings each of these members of his Policy Unit held with members and officials of the United States of America Government on each visit, indicating the dates and locations of each meeting, the Policy Unit members involved at each meeting, and the names of the US Ministers and officials at each meeting. The Prime Minister

David Miliband, Geoff Mulgan and Derek Scott accompanied me for all or part of my visit to the United States of America on 4-7 February 1998. David Miliband also accompanied me on similar visits on 22 September and 8 November 1998. James Purnell accompanied the former Secretary of State for Trade and Industry during a visit to the United States on 10-16 October 1998.

Members of the Policy Unit participated in the official Ministerial programme and also separately attended meetings with US public officials. All visits were undertaken in line with the rules set out in the Ministerial Code
