HC Deb 10 November 1999 vol 337 c610W
Mr. Sanders

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will list the numbers of leasehold(a) properties and (b) households for each local authority area. [97804]

Mr. Mullin

Estimates of the number of leasehold households can be made from the Survey of English Housing down to Government Office Region level as shown in the following table. It is not possible to make estimates for individual local authorities from this source owing to limits of sample size.

Number of leasehold households by Government office region, 1997–98 to 1998–99
Thousand
North East 63
North West 540
Yorks & Humber 120
East Midlands 35
West Midlands 137
Eastern 125
London 433
South East 212
South West 107
England 1,772

Notes:

  1. 1 Estimates from the Survey of English Housing, using data from the 1997–98 and 1998–99 surveys
  2. 2 Like all estimates from sample surveys, these figures are subject to sampling variability
