Letter from Tim Holt to Mr. Nigel Evans, dated 10 November 1999: As Director of the Office for National Statistics (ONS), I have been asked to reply to your recent question asking how many children between the ages of five and 18 years have drowned in the UK this year; and how many drowned in the years (a) 1995, (b) 1996, (c) 1997 and (d) 1998. Figures for this year are not yet available. The information requested for years 1995 to 1998 is given in the table below.
