To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his letter of 16 July 1998 (MR/PSO/8216/98), what progress he has made towards electronic publishing of carbon dioxide figures. [81910]

Estimated UK emissions of carbon dioxide and other air pollutants for 1970–96 are available from the National Air Quality Archive on the Internet at the following address: (http://www.environment.detr.gov.uk/airq/aqinfo.htm). The DTI also publish carbon dioxide emissions on their site (http://www.dti.gov.uk/epa). Later this month my department will be releasing 1997 emission estimates for all the main air pollutants and DTI will be releasing provisional 1998 emissions estimates for carbon dioxide.
