Mr. Moore

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what data his Department collects on expenditure on NHS training and education and its distribution. [77134]

Mr. Galbraith

My Department holds information on expenditure on those education and training activities in the NHS in Scotland which are funded through the Scottish Council for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education (SCPMDE) and other central funding mechanisms.

From 1 July 1999 this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
