HC Deb 15 March 1999 vol 327 c472W
Dr. Marek

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will ensure that trains re-timed to arrive later than as shown in the Great Britain passenger railway timetable are included as late trains in the statistics published on punctuality. [76230]

Ms Glenda Jackson

The Franchising Director's office currently publishes information from train operators' Passenger Charters in its Quarterly Bulletin. Charter punctuality information does not normally include trains on Sundays, or trains delayed for reasons outside the control of the industry. This is likely to mean that the majority of trains with extended journeys from planned engineering works or following major incidents are excluded. The Franchising Director is currently consulting on improved public performance measures.
