§ Dr. HowellsThe Fireworks (Safety) Regulations 1997 introduced comprehensive controls on the types and sizes of fireworks which can be supplied to the general public. I have no plans to introduce further controls on fireworks. However, I have asked DTI officials to explore ways in which the voluntary agreement on the selling period for fireworks in the run-up to Bonfire night can be strengthened and to consider the issue of sales in advance of the Millennium celebrations.
