HL Deb 22 June 1999 vol 602 c78WA
Baroness Anelay of St. Johns

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether training in wheelchair awareness is being given to all those who will work at the Millennium Dome once it is opened to the public; when such training is being carried out; and which organisation is providing the training.[HL2954]

The Minister of State, Cabinet Office, (Lord Falconer of Thoroton)

All members of the New Millennium Experience Company's (NMEC) operational staff will be trained in awareness of disability issues prior to the opening of the Dome to the public. The Advisory Group on Accessibility (set up by NMEC in June 1997) has been consulted on staff training and the company has also received a number of approaches from specialist training advisers. These are being evaluated prior to final decisions on the content of training and on the provider.
