HC Deb 27 July 1999 vol 336 c320W
Miss McIntosh

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on National Power's plans to close its power stations at Blyth in Northumberland. [93247]

Mr. Battle

This is a matter for the company and the Director General of Electricity Supply.

Miss McIntosh

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assessment he has made of the impact of the closure of National Power's power stations at Blyth, on the continued need for new power lines running south through Yorkshire. [93246]

Mr. Battle

Development consents were granted for these lines in 1998 following exhaustive public inquiries and there is no statutory basis for now reviewing those consents. No reassessment of the situation has therefore been made by my Department.
