To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what action his Department is taking to increase the proportion of adult women who participate in sport. [91366]

Mr. Banks

The Government has made clear its determination to improve opportunities for women at all levels in sport, whether as participants, competitors, coaches or administrators. We are working closely with the Sports Councils and others to find ways to encourage more women to take part in sport, and our Sports Strategy will address the issue of increasing participation by all sections of the community.
