To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what percentage of council-owned properties was declared as void by the housing departments in(a) the London Borough of Wandsworth, (b) the City of Westminster and (c) the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for 1998; and if he will make a statement. As reported by them on their respective Housing Investment Programme (HIP) Operational Information returns, 2.0 per cent. of council-owned properties were vacant in the London Borough of Wandsworth on 1 April 1998, 1.7 per cent. in the City of Westminster and 2.3 per cent. in Hammersmith and Fulham. There is likely to be some variation in the proportion of dwellings that are vacant in a local authority from one date to another during the year.
