§ Ms QuinAccording to the Commission's "General Report on the Activities of the European Union 1998", in 1998 there were 537 Commission Decisions, 44 Commission Directives, 27 Council Directives and 26 Council/European Parliament Directives. These figures exclude instruments not published in the official Journal and routine management instruments valid for a limited period.
Working groups do not make proposals for legislation. They carry out preparatory work for legislative decisions taken by the Council. There is no central record of the Opinions given by comitology committees. However, all legislation enacted following consideration by comitology committees is published in the Official Journal, copies of which are placed in the Library of the House.
