§ Ms Glenda JacksonAs stated in paragraph 2.70 of the White Paper, noise is one of the areas where further work is needed to ensure that indicators are appropriate and effective. This work is being taken forward in conjunction with current work on noise indicators by the European Commission which aims to harmonise methods of calculating noise exposure as part of a proposed Framework Directive on Noise. It would be premature for us to reach conclusions about noise indicators until that work is further advanced.
