To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has produced written guidance for the creation of new public private partnership capital schemes; and when he expects to produce final written guidance for potential project sponsors. [64678]

Partnerships for Prosperity was published in November 1997. There is also a programme of guidance and technical notes for those engaged in the PFI in the public sector. Last year's publications were: General

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if agreement has been reached with the Accounting Standards Board on the accounting presentation of PFI schemes in Government; and if he will make a statement. [64679]

Mr. Milburn

The Government welcomed the publication by the Accounting Standards Board on 10 September of Application Note F—Private Finance Initiative and similar contracts to Financial Reporting Standard 5. Officials are preparing detailed guidance reflecting this document to replace the Treasury's current guidance on this subject.
