To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on NATO exercises in the Barents Sea between 7 and 11 February 1974, with special reference to(a) collisions and (b) damage to NATO vessels. [71501]

My Department is not aware of any NATO exercises in the Barents Sea between 7 and 11 February 1974. Similarly, we are not aware of any collisions or damage involving RN vessels at that time, neither am I aware of the presence of any RN vessels in the Barents sea at that time. MOD does not hold records concerning collisions and damage to NATO vessels.
