HC Deb 22 February 1999 vol 326 c67W
Mr. Burstow

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his answer of 16 February 1999,Official Report, column 603, concerning Best Value, if the provision of services for the Greater London Assembly will be covered by the Best Value regime. [72595]

Mr. Raynsford

The Local Government Bill allows for the Secretary of State to provide, by Order, for the GLA to be a best value authority in relation to those specified functions of the Authority which it does not exercise through the Mayor. This includes services for the Assembly which will be provided through the GLA's Chief Administrative Officer.
