HC Deb 22 February 1999 vol 326 c175W
Mr. Ben Chapman

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many United Kingdom civilians employed in war-related work have received war pensions for asbestosis since 1969; and what factors led to their award. [72000]

Mr. Bayley

As at 31 December 1998, there were 3,183 civilians receiving a War Disablement Pension. However, information on how many of these pensions relate to asbestosis, how many pensions have been awarded since 1969 and what factors led to their award is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
